Torrential midweek rain put paid to all but one of this weekends ECL games and that took place in the sunshine at Crossford Bridge. The result, a 6-2 victory for FC Flyers against home side Old Alts was their fifth consecutive victory of the season.
An Adam Wilson header and a goal from captain Scott McGowan put the visitors two goals up but Old Alts pulled the game back to 2-2 by half time with goals from Dean Duignan and Jordan Jackson.
The second half belonged to Flyers. An early goal from Scott McGowan made it 3-2 and his third of the game minutes later made it 4-2. McGowan’s hat trick consisted of a header , a right foot shot and a left foot shot ,the ‘perfect hat-trick’ and evidence , in case any was needed , that he is the most dangerous and prolific striker in the league with 17 goals in just five games . Goals from Ashley Thomas and Anthony Hampson completed a dominant second half for the league leaders.
