Brian Hillson League Cup Semi Final

Having comfortably defeated their opponents 7-0 last week High Lane could have been excused for thinking the tie was already over as they went three goals up against Old Alts A in the first half thanks to two James Williamson goals and a rare goal from centre half Matt Dunn who beat the offside trap, but how wrong they were.
Old Alts came roaring back to 2-3 thanks to goals from Dean Duignan and Dave Howard as High Lane failed to get a grip of the game and press home their advantage . Fearing the worst, High Lane’s Tony Mitchell brought on substitute Jack Gorrie who immediately made an impact scoring to make it 4-2 , his fifth goal in five games sparking jubilant scenes as players ran on the pitch to celebrate. At the final whistle Mitchell was more than relieved

“It was an ugly win but I’ll take it . Last week we controlled the game but this week Alts played well and at 2-3 the next goal was always going to be crucial”
